Meet Your Hybrid

Projects Apr 02, 2012

“Everyone leads a different life, with very different needs.”

With that in mind we worked with Grow Communications and Elevator Strategy to build and launch a fun and interactive microsite to help visitors find their perfect hybrid match. Using HTML5 and jQuery we replaced traditional form fields with interactive drag-and-drop functionality and other animated elements to create an engaging user experience.

Features:

  • Interactive elements including drag-and-drop support for mobile
  • Integration with Facebook and Twitter
  • Extensive campaign reporting capabilities

Improved UX with pushState and AJAX

Goldtooth Creative Mar 06, 2012

Even the fastest loading websites can still reveal a flicker as the visitor clicks between the pages on the site. This is particularly true for websites with dark or patterned backgrounds. To combat this, and create a smoother loading website in general, we implemented a combination of pushState and AJAX to load new content right into the page instead clicking over to another page. The use of pushState in this case dynamically changes the URL in the address bar so that visitors can still copy and paste full links and search engines can still read the website as having clean URLs.

Features:

  • Graceful degration for browsers that don’t yet support pushState
  • Clean URLs don’t interfere with Search Engine Optimization
  • Ability to enable or disable pushState depending on the link
  • Smoother and faster browsing experience

RSS-to-Email Newsletter Content

Scandinavian Centre Feb 20, 2012

The Scandinavian Centre organizes dozens of events every month and needed a simple and effective way to communicate that out to their members. Since the events are already posted to the website in detail, we wanted to find a way to dynamically include that valuable content into their email newsletters instead of having to duplicate the effort. The solution was to manipulate MailChimp’s RSS-to-Email functionality to include a specially formatted script that outputted upcoming events.

Mobile Use in the Restaurant Industry

The Ascot Sep 25, 2011

There’s no question that mobile use is on the rise but the statistics vary greatly by industry and demographic. The Ascot is a new restaurant/lounge in Vancouver but we were still surprised to see 21% of visitors to the website were using mobile devices. In response we set up a customized mobile version of their website that integrates with their existing content management system.

Features

  • Web-App Mode with a custom icon allows visitors to add the website to their iPhone’s homescreens, allowing it to look like a native application.
